For the last few seasons, I’ve enjoyed creating a small series of wood slice paintings. It began in the Spring of 2023 and followed each season with a new shape and size. Frosty Autumn Sunset

This painting is inspired by a vividly, bright pink  wintry sunset set against the golden autumn aspens and violet and pink Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I took particular inspiration from the Sangre de Cristo Mountains that line the Eastern edge of the San Luis Valley where the sunsets in the winter produce incredible colors and alpenglow effects throughout the landscape.
